The Role of Deacons

The Deacon’s Role:
We are ordained/called out servant leaders.


The Deacon’s Goal: 
Our goal is to honor God and to bring glory to His Name as deacons through our service.


Deacon Ministry Purpose: 
Acts 6
 
To serve the Lord by conducting the caring ministry of the church – doing the work of benevolence, visiting the sick, being alert to spiritual needs of the congregation – and by promoting unity within the church, thus freeing the pastors to focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word, and facilitating the spread of the gospel.


Deacon Ministry Requirements:
Men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom (Acts 6:3-5)
A good manager of his household (1 Tim 3:4)
Men of dignity, not double tongued (1 Tim 3:8-9)
Capable of serving in spiritual ways (1 Tim 3:13)
Obtain for themselves a high standing and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus
Committed to evangelism (Acts 6:6-7)
Advance unity within the body (Acts 6:3-5)
Ready to give a defense of the gospel (Acts 6:9, Jude 3)
